Excel Charting

Description:
Learn how to plot and format data in Excel workbooks in column charts and pie charts. Separate charts or keep them in the worksheets with the data being plotted. Create quick charts with one key, and define which type of chart to create with this method. Breakout pie, scatter, radar, bar, line charts will be briefly covered. two 1 1/2-hour sessions. Dates: March 30 & April 6, 10-12 p.m. Registers you in both classes. Must take both.

Excel Database

Explore Excel’s database capabilities. Learn to create and manipulate lists of data in Excel. In this hands on workshop you will be able to sort and filter the list, create automatic subtotals, use VLookup function, and validate data as it is entered into the database. Learn how to create a spreadsheet, enter data, use the AutoSum and AutoFill tools as well as format cells and create formulas. Requires a 3-session commitment. Feb. 9, 16, 23, 2-4 p.m. (Registering for the first class automatically registers you for the 2 and 3 class.

Excel Macros

Description:
Do you find yourself clicking and typing to perform the same tasks frequently? Macros are recordings of keystrokes and mouse clicks that perform a task. After recording the steps for a task, you "run" the macro and all the steps are done. This can save so much time, from simple formatting to calculating. Note: Visual Basic coding is not taught in this class. NOTE: this workshop is a 2 session requirement, 90 minutes each. Registering signs you up for both classes which will take place on April 13 & 20, 1:45 - 3:45 p.m.

Gamification: Creating a Review Game

Attendees will be shown different options of creating a game to review for an exam. They will be shown how to use a powerpoint template to create the review game as well as http://flipquiz.me/. It is suggested that they bring in material that they could use to create the game, that way they can begin to create a review game during that session that can be used in class. Moodle: Glossary Tool

The glossary tool allows teachers or teachers and students to create and maintain a list of definitions, like a dictionary. The entries can be searched or browsed in different formats. A glossary can be used as a collaborative activity or be restricted to entries made by the teacher. The auto-linking feature can highlight any word in the course which is located in the glossary. 45 min.

Moodle: Grade Calculation in Excel

Did you know you can import/export your grades in Excel? If you are used to working in Excel, pulling out grades from a Moodle gradebook could help you do grade calculation independent of the Moodle aggregation methods. This workshop will go over how to use Excel functions to calculate average, weighted averages and translate numeric averages to a letter grade.
