Executive Director, Bergen Community College Foundation
Laurie W. Francis joined the College in 1995 as the executive director of the Bergen Community College Foundation. The foundation is a separately incorporated 501 (c) (3) organization that raises and administers funds to support student scholarships, faculty and staff development, construction, and other special projects and programs which will continue the tradition of excellence in education provided by Bergen.
During her tenure, not only have the foundation’s assets grown from $1.2 to $8.8 million, but the entity has disbursed close to $2.2 million in scholarship awards and another $6.6 million in project funding for such additions as the student center, science and health professions labs, laboratory equipment and aviation equipment.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Francis was director of the SUNY Health Science Center Foundation at Syracuse, Inc. where she oversaw foundation operations, fundraising (campaigns, special events), and fund management of the foundation’s portfolio. From 1988 to 1990, Ms. Francis served as the assistant director of economic development for the City of Syracuse. As owner of Laurie Francis Sports Promotion and Production in the 1980s, Ms. Francis provided organizational, management and development services to a variety of clients from the Pan American Games XI to the YWCA of Syracuse.
Ms. Francis earned her bachelor’s degree in urban studies from Utica College of Syracuse University.
